Contract Manager

Job Role: Contract Manager (Building Construction) Location: Port Harcourts, Nigeria Reports To: Managing Director Compensation: Highly Competitive Our client is a renowned leading Civil Engineering and Construction firm in Nigeria. The Company is seeking to hire an experienced Contract Manager to coordinate and manage all activities of the contract department. Job Objective: The Contract Manager be responsible for all Pre-contract and Post- contract activities, analyzing tender or contract terms to identify areas of possible risks (threats and opportunities) monitoring and managing contracts, attending progress meetings (Internal or External), developing policies/ procedures and liaising with other functions. Key Responsibilities: Establish strategies and KPIs for efficiency in Contracts Management Extensively study contract documents, full scope of projects, specifications book, schedule of rates, drawings, and bill of quantities for the project. Ensure participation in key and off-site meetings, recording in real time all major decisions and or changes, and communicating to key members of management on planned actions. Prepares comprehensive monthly reports covering sites, submitting project-tracking register weekly. Prepares contract (with PO), ensuring 100% alignment of T&Cs with the main contract from the date of receipt of approval requisition. Submits all deliverables (precedent to the effectiveness of contract) in liaison with finance. Manages timely contractual correspondence Notify the client of claimable occurrences/ instructions from the date of being aware. Liaise with the Company’s Contract team to ensure timely submission of VO/claims. Prepares claim matrix/register and submits for further review by management. Defines and Monitors claims strategy working with the Project Team. Monitoring parties’ compliance to contractual requirements (milestone payments and other receivables, contractual progress, deadlines possible delay/non-compliance, etc). Formulate needed policies that will strategically align the department to achieve organizational objectives. Liaising and closely working with various departments to ensure delivery of projects within budget and schedule without compromising quality and safety. Key Requirements: First degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent A degree in Contract law and or Construction law is desirable 10+ years’ experience in contract management in the oil and gas sector NIQS registered or equivalent QS certification Experience in contract management within the oil and gas sector. Experience in claims strategies within the oil and gas sector.
